Origins & History of the O'Hare Clan
The historic Irish surname O’Hare derives from the Gaelic Ó hÍr, traditionally translated as “Angry or Fierce”. Rooted deeply within the ancestral province of Ulster, particularly the territories of County Armagh, the clan maintained a revered status among the hereditary dynasties of ancient Ireland.
Throughout the medieval epoch, chieftains and families bearing the name O’Hare held extensive estates and defended their ancestral lands against encroaching Norman and Tudor forces.
