Origins & History of the O'Connell Clan
The historic Irish surname O’Connell derives from the Gaelic Ó Conaill, traditionally translated as “Strong as a Wolf”. Rooted deeply within the ancestral province of Munster, particularly the territories of County Kerry, the clan maintained a revered status among the hereditary dynasties of ancient Ireland.
