Origins & History of the Moran Clan
The historic Irish surname Moran derives from the Gaelic Ó Móráin, traditionally translated as “Great or Chief”. Rooted deeply within the ancestral province of Connacht, particularly the territories of County Mayo, the clan maintained a revered status among the hereditary dynasties of ancient Ireland.
