Origins & History of the McNamara Clan
The historic Irish surname McNamara derives from the Gaelic Mac Conmara, traditionally translated as “Hound of the Sea”. Rooted deeply within the ancestral province of Munster, particularly the territories of County Clare, the clan maintained a revered status among the hereditary dynasties of ancient Ireland.
