Origins & History of the MacPartland Clan
The historic Irish surname MacPartland derives from the Gaelic Mac Pharthaláin, traditionally translated as “Son of Bartholomew”. Rooted deeply within the ancestral province of Connacht, particularly the territories of County Leitrim, the clan maintained a revered status among the hereditary dynasties of ancient Ireland.
Throughout the medieval epoch, chieftains and families bearing the name MacPartland held extensive estates and defended their ancestral lands against encroaching Norman and Tudor forces.
