Origins & History of the MacDermott Roe Clan
The historic Irish surname MacDermott Roe derives from the Gaelic Mac Diarmada Rua, traditionally translated as “The Red-haired MacDermott”. Rooted deeply within the ancestral province of Connacht, particularly the territories of County Roscommon, the clan maintained a revered status among the hereditary dynasties of ancient Ireland.
