Origins & History of the Callaghan Clan
The historic Irish surname Callaghan derives from the Gaelic Ó Ceallacháin, traditionally translated as “Strife or Contention”. Rooted deeply within the ancestral province of Munster, particularly the territories of County Cork, the clan maintained a revered status among the hereditary dynasties of ancient Ireland.
